Investing in Myself...

Two years. Two years since I actively focused on my fitness. And how it has deteriorated without any attention. Stress, long hours and excuses all contributed to my downfall. No excuses anymore. Since I have retired, I have no reason not to exercise and take care of myelf. I have decided to use Leslie Sansone's walking program because it's easy to do and I enjoy it. Friday I did 4 miles, yesterday I did 2 miles. Today was a bit of the setback as I feel like I am coming down with something, but I took advantage and finished the book I was reading. Gotta feed the mental health as well as the physical. I am enjoying the time to read and the luxury to slow down if I'm not feeling 100%. Life is Good...

The fitness Gods are against me!

I decide to get fit and the treadmill craps out on me! Oh well, if anyone can fix it, Tom can! Guess I need to kick it old school!

Wow...

This is tragic! It has almost been 2 years since I put any real effort into my fitness. Thanks to my Sweetie I now have a Fitbit tracker, so hopefully this will be a jumpstart to a healthier me! I was impressed with my first assessment of my sleep. I took a Tylenol PM last night and woke up feeling well rested. The Fitbit agreed and recorded I slept for over and I was at 98%! If only every night could be that good! We are planning to go to hunting camp today to retrieve a stump and do some walking. I'm curious to see what that will do for my steps goal. I would like to start Zumba again. It may need to be the UTube version as my work schedule is so hectic an unpredictable. Perhaps that needs to change as well. Here's to a fresh start..

Wow!

Almost a year has gone by since I last posted here. Hmm. I'm not going to berate myself for my absence. It's not mandatory to blog my progress and while I haven't been as focused lately, I still have the same goals. Although fitness is more of a need to feel healthy rather than lose weight and look good at this point. My body aches and a thorough physical and lab work did not reveal any diagnosable condition. Guess it's up to me to work on strength, endurance and flexibility and let's see where that takes me...to be continued...

I haven't been here since June! What a busy few weeks it's been! I spent 2 whole weeks in LaPine, returned to the garden of weedin, helped Tom clear the cherry trees he cut down from Carol's side of the fence and oh yeah, we bought a house! Okay, technically we are in the process of buying a house, but it will happen soon. Another opportunity to buy the house next door to our property presented itself (this is the house formerly known as "Norm's House") and thanks to good karma and clean living the agent offered it to us at the same price as the high bidder. Because he liked us. And Tom fixed the sprinkler head problem. See, sometimes it pays to be a nice guy! What this means is, the something less for the future will be spending. We have never been extravagant, but we have enjoyed a comfortable lifestyle for quite some time where if we really want something, we just buy it. Now we need to be a little more careful in that regard to manage 2 mortgages. I am confident that with careful planning and the raises we are both getting that this will all be absorbed and there will be no cause for panic, but anytime we make a major purchase I hold my breath a little bit. Call it my frugal roots...

I am still juicing and being careful about what I eat...exercising when I can. Still stuck at 160, which I fear may be my weight. It's not entirely bad for my height and my body conture seems to be changing...clothes are fitting better, but it's that damn number on the scale that gets me! Oh well...healthy is the goal. More later...

Costco!

Well after years of just saying NO to Costco, I succumbed and bought a membership. It was peer pressure, I tell ya!!! (just kidding). Tom has long liked many of their products, and so have I through the Eagle Bargain Outlet. I've always been of the mind that I can do better shopping around, which on some things I can, but as for other products I can not. Like my yeast. A dollar cheaper than my best price. Great price on olive oil. And they carry Bob's Red Mill products too. So I'm pretty happy I decided to stop being resistant and joined the throngs who make the pilgrimage to Costco. Had the $1.50 polish dog dinner and it was delicious! We are still on the juice and I did Zumba this week. The weights kicked my butt, in a good way. Looking forward to next week! And vacation!!!
